Midelt Hybrid Plant, the world’s first plant to combine photovoltaic and solar thermal technology
Midelt, the plant designed by TSK in Morocco with an installed capacity of 800 MW, was the first plant in the world to combine these two technologies, taking advantage of the benefits of each.
On the one hand, the main advantage of thermosolar technology is that it allows electricity to be generated at any time of the day in a manageable way, and on the other, the main advantage of photovoltaic technology is its competitiveness in terms of investment costs and maintenance.
The consortium formed by the French electricity company EDF, the Abu Dhabi company Masdar and the Moroccan company Green of Africa, commissioned TSK to design and build the plant, which represents an investment of 700 million Euro.
