TSK successfully completes the Mérida Combined Cycle Power Plant in Mexico

15 May, 2026

TSK has reached a new milestone in its international activity with the entry into commercial operation of the combined cycle power plant in Mérida (Yucatán, Mexico), following authorization from the National Energy Control Center (CENACE) on May 12, 2026.

Since that date, the plant —developed for the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE)— is already in commercial operation and has been transferred to the client for operation, with the process of transferring possession, custody and control of the facility now underway.

This strategic project, known during its development as “CCC Mérida” or “Mérida IV” and currently named the “Elvia Carrillo Puerto” Combined Cycle Power Plant, has a capacity close to 500 MW and makes a decisive contribution to strengthening the power supply in the Yucatán Peninsula, benefiting more than 1.5 million people.

It is also part of the priority projects of the Mexican electrical system aimed at addressing growing energy demand in the region and ensuring a reliable, efficient and sustainable supply.

A demanding project completed to high standards

The execution of this infrastructure has represented a significant technical and organisational challenge, developed over more than four years within a particularly demanding international and market context.

During this period, the project team has supported the client through complex circumstances, including constraints related to gas supply and extraordinary operating conditions, demonstrating a high capacity for adaptation.

The result is a plant delivered to a high level of completion, with performance exceeding guaranteed values and high operational reliability, meeting the strict technical requirements established by the Mexican energy authorities.

Contribution to the energy transition

The plant uses combined cycle technology powered by natural gas, enabling higher efficiency and a significant reduction in emissions compared to conventional technologies.

According to CFE, this facility will help avoid the emission of approximately 1.49 million tonnes of CO₂ per year, thereby supporting the country’s energy transition strategy.

This milestone marks the completion of a complex and highly relevant project, in which numerous professionals have participated throughout its different phases.

TSK would like to recognize and thank the commitment of all those who have contributed to the success of the Mérida Combined Cycle Power Plant, both those who have been part of the project through to completion and those who continue with the final stages, consolidating a result that strengthens the company’s position in the international energy sector.
