Due to the nature of their construction and operation, electrical substations can suffer breakdowns, degradations and other problems. When corrective actions are not performed in their due time, hot spots can occur in the connectors and cables may even get cut. The consequences can be catastrophic. In order to solve these problems, TSK implemented a solution named SISTER: a system using fixed thermographic cameras allowing for real-time monitoring and recording of the temperature at critical points.
